What an automation is

An automation is an email sequence triggered by an event, such as a new subscriber joining or a product being purchased. Once created and activated, it runs without manual intervention.

The Automations tab manages these sequences separately from one-time broadcasts. Each automation has a trigger type, a subject line, and a body template.

Creating an automation

Click New Automation on the Automations tab. Choose a trigger type: membership_started fires when someone subscribes, purchase_completed fires after a paid order.

Fill in the subject template and body template. Use {{first_name}} for personalization. Save the automation — it starts paused by default.

Toggle the automation active from the row actions when you are ready for it to begin firing on new events.

Pausing and resuming

The Pause / Resume button in each row controls whether new triggers will queue deliveries. Pausing does not cancel runs already in the queue.

If you need to update the content, pause first to prevent new triggers from firing stale copy, then edit and resume.
