One-click PayPal connect for sellers

How to keep PayPal onboarding to one click, with a low-friction fallback only when needed.

Target experience

Seller clicks Connect PayPal in the payments workspace and finishes merchant onboarding in PayPal.

After return, the seller sees connected status and can mark PayPal as the live checkout provider.

Do not force manual merchant ID copy/paste as the default path.

Fallback rule

Keep a manual merchant ID fallback behind a secondary control, not as the first CTA.

Use fallback only when callback auto-resolution still cannot recover merchant ID after onboarding retry.

Once a merchant ID is saved, setup should still continue through the same live-provider selection flow.

Support language

Use one-click connect language in setup surfaces and support replies.

Keep ownership language clear: seller funds and provider-side disputes stay in the seller PayPal account.

Escalate only when PayPal onboarding callback fails or returns without merchant identity.
